Downes Associates was established in 1997 by Paul Downes as an engineering consultancy specialising in the design of building structures and related civil engineering works. Since inception, Downes Associates has steadily grown to the point at which the practice now employs a full-time staff of twenty two Engineers, Technicians and Administrators. The practice is located in a fully-equipped, purpose-designed modern office building that offers staff a pleasant working environment and state-of-the art equipment and design tools.

Downes Associates core objectives are to provide quality structural designs that are functional, elegant, economic and innovative where possible, together with quality drawings and details, as these are vital in communicating designs to the Client, Building contractor and other design professionals. To deliver these objectives, Downes Associates employs a fully integrated team of motivated, skilled and highly qualified Engineers and Technicians.

Downes Associates client base is wide and varied and since formation the practice has worked with Local Authorities, Semi-State Organisations, Institutional Companies, Private Sector Companies, Private Developers and International Clients. This wide client base and the very different types of projects successfully completed reflects the varied nature of engineering demands placed on the skill and experience of the staff.

Downes Associates is entirely professional and devoted solely to consultancy services. The practice is independent of the commercial interest of any third party firms and manufacturers. The practice is a member of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland. In addition, Downes Associates maintains corporate membership of the Steel Construction Institute.
